It’s interesting how many customers ask me about the future of Fibre Channel, in the growing world of Cloud, Virtual Networks and file vs. block applications. Then, we talk about trusted performance, rock-solid reliability, non-stop operations… and the discussion quickly moves to how it just works. There aren’t a lot of questions about risk or maturity. 20 years of proven results means something.

Extend that concept to partnerships, and that’s where EMC and Cisco enter the discussion. We continue our strong partnership, focused on enhancing our joint customer’s storage experience through the Connectrix MDS series of products. Over the past 2 years we have introduced the Connectrix MDS-9710 Director and the MDS-9250i multi-functional switch, which have expanded FC connectivity to the 16Gb VMAX arrays. Now, simultaneous with the enhanced 16Gb FC capabilities of the new VMAX3 storage platform, EMC is excited to again partner with Cisco to extend the Connectrix family with the introduction of the MDS-9706 and MDS-9148S systems.

Maturity doesn’t mean stagnant. Enhancements and new features continue, built on experience.

These new systems will be available in the EMC Connectrix MDS series in September, and provide our customers with more options for creating highly available, scalable and feature rich, end-to-end storage networks. Our customers continue to depend on Fibre Channel as an important element of high performance, reliable and easy to manage storage environments, and the new MDS systems fit well in our expanding portfolio.

Whether you are building out a new Data Center, expanding an existing configuration, or architecting for a new application, EMC VMAX, VMAX3, VNX and Connectrix MDS provide everything needed to meet all the demands of a rigorous environment. The ability to seamlessly interconnect existing and next generation servers, SAN and storage systems provides flexibility to respond to all the demands of your business.

With the introduction of VMAX3, EMC has enhanced the Fibre Channel connectivity on these scalable and agile systems. By increasing overall connectivity and bandwidth 2x, you now have even more options for end-to-end storage networking. Build your most scalable and mission critical applications, and trust that VMAX3 and Connectrix will give you everything you need to meet these most demanding environments.
